Southeast Foundation and Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Installing Push Piers in Fayetteville, NC

Challenge

Lee, of Fayetteville, NC, had suffered flooding during Hurricane Matthew, and since then, he had noticed a number of issues. Lee could visibly see cracks on the exterior of his home in the brick, and he worried about the implications. Based on a few areas inside of his home that had begun to sink and sag, he feared it wasn’t good. Addressing this concern, he called Southeast Foundation and Crawl Space Repair.

Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair inspector Graham Moore met with Lee to do the inspecton to his home. During the inspection, during his inspection Graham noticed cracking on the exterior of the home and also the sagging areas inside. Taking a look underneath the home, Graham could see that some floor joists were sagging and in need of lifting and stabilization. This was the source of the cracks on Lee’s home, as well as the uneven floors inside. He determined that Lee’s home would need a combination of lifting and reinforcement to eliminate his structural issues.

Solution

Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair installed the Smart Jack System in the crawl space of the home. Our Smart Jack System, is premium product developed by Supportworks, are built to stabilize and support floor joists in a crawl space. Installing a group of 3 Smart Jacks, we were able to correct the sagging floor issue that had caused so many interior problems for Lee.

Next, the crew had to ensure that Lee’s foundation would not be in danger of future settlement. To solidify and lift the foundational structure, they also installed 5 Push Piers around the foundation of the home. Our patented Push Pier system is comprised of rugged steel tubes which are driven hydraulically deep into the earth, until very stable earth—sometimes even bedrock—is reached. With the pier brackets attached to the home’s foundation, the weight of the home is soundly supported by the new group of installed Push Piers.

Lee was pleased that his home’s inner flooring would now be level, and satisfied with how Southeast Foundation and Crawl Space Repair performed the stabilization for the structural integrity of his home.
