Allen contacted Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair concerned about musty odors within the home and falling insulation within the crawl space that he thought needed to be addressed.
Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair inspector Brannon Walters met with Allen to go over the crawl space and find out where Allen's issues were coming from.
Brannon found that Allen's musty odors were coming from an excessive moisture issue within the crawl space that also caused the insulation to fall.
Our crew installed the CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System. By installing the CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System we are able to reduce moisture & humidity. The CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System also has the 25- year total performance warranty.
The floor joists in this crawl space were failing because of high moisture levels and an unprotected crawl space. Additionally, cinderblocks were used as floor joist supports and shifted. To solve this problem, we encapsulated the space with a CleanSpace vapor barrier and used a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to remove moisture. As a permanent stabilization measure, we installed a steel supplemental beam along the weakened floor joists. SmartJack Support Posts were bolted to the steel beam and secured to the crawl space floor for adequate support.
We replaced the customer's vapor barrier with our CleanSpace vapor barrier system because it offers superior durability, moisture resistance, and energy efficiency. CleanSpace is specifically designed to prevent water vapor from passing through the crawl space or basement, reducing humidity levels and protecting the home from mold, mildew, and structural damage. Unlike standard vapor barriers, CleanSpace is made of a thick, puncture-resistant material that ensures long-lasting performance and provides a cleaner, healthier environment for the home.
